Are debt collectors bothering you? You have rights!
This tool will help you create letters you can send to a debt collector. In just a few minutes, you’ll have a letter you can mail that may stop collection calls, letters, or other contact.
For more information about your legal rights when it comes to debt collection, see, Debt Collection: Know Your Rights.
- Letter A: A creditor or collection agency is bothering you, but you don’t owe the debt. Either the bill is wrong or you already paid it.
- Letter B: You want to tell a debt collector to stop contacting you.
- Letter C: You want to file a complaint with the State of Connecticut Department of Banking and the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau because you think a debt collector broke the law.
- Letter D: You want to tell a debt collector to stop contacting you because your income is protected (or exempt).
